Lightweight and Easy to Handle with the Appearance of Structural Stone

OOLITIC, IND., – 2/9/14 – Thin Veneer Stone, the newest product from Indiana Limestone Co., enables architects, designers and others to take advantage of the timeless and lasting performance of limestone without the installed weight and expense of a full-thickness product.

Indiana limestone is a celebrated building material, used since the mid-1800s in thousands of commercial and public structures, among them the Empire State Building, the Pentagon, and Washington’s National Cathedral. Its warmth, consistent color, attractive surface and durability have made it a perennial selection, lending beauty and substance to any design.

ILCO’s new Thin Veneer Stone, delivered in 1-1/4″ thickness as opposed to the greater thicknesses previously used for natural limestone, greatly enhances the versatility and utility of the stone. Due to the lighter than thicker cuts, it’s an economical product to ship and an easy one to handle at every stage of transport and construction. Cutting the stone at the site is also relatively easy, and it can be installed by crews that don’t include professional masons.

The new product is offered in Full Color Blend, presenting a full range of Indiana Limestone’s buff to light-gray shades with a selected range of texture, grain and veining characteristics. The result is an appealing and consistent look for building facades. The Berkshire Thin variety is offered in flats and corners of varying heights and lengths between 24″ and 40″. Rockford Estate Thin Veneer is available in 2″-12″ heights and 8″-18″ lengths
