Elite Cedar Rapids Residence Features Indiana Limestone Company’s Vanderbilt® Classic Sawn Veneer
OOLITIC, IND. – 10/30/15 – An elegant new residence in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, showcases the beauty and permanence of Vanderbilt® Classic stone from the Indiana Limestone Company. This solid, natural stone, a sawn veneer product in the firm’s classic quarried limestone, has helped produce a uniquely attractive and permanent presentation in the Cedar Rapids house.
“The family had thought of cast stone for their house,” said Dwayne Wiebold of Premier Brick and Stone, Hiawatha, Iowa, which supplied the stone. “There was an old historic building in town that used Indiana limestone full color blend, and the family liked the look. When we could show them that real limestone was available for about the same price as a cast stone substitute, that decided things.”
The Vanderbilt® Classic stone used in the home employs the same prized raw material used in such iconic American structures as Yankee Stadium, the Empire State Building, and the National Cathedral. It’s available in standard sizes of 4″, 8″, 12″, or 16″ heights, and 24″ and 36″ in length.
The price of this historic natural stone is highly competitive relative to engineered or cast stone imitations.
At the Kellogg residence, door jambs and special window surrounds with water table sills and caps were fabricated to enhance the structure’s architecturally sophisticated appearance.
Construction of the house was begun in May of 2014, and completed this year. It employs Indiana Limestone’s full color blend tone range to produce a consistent look with distinctive variation.
General contractor for the Kellogg house was Jim Buresh Construction of Cedar Rapids. The mason firm was Steffenson Masonry, Lisbon, Iowa.
